The Hyper Millennium (Japanese: ハイパーミレニアム) is a yo-yo made in China and released in Japan by Bandai on October 1997 exclusively as part of their Hyper Yo-yo line.
It was meant to replace the Hyper Pro (rebrand of Duncan Professional), which has ended production very early since its Hyper Yo-Yo release.
Description[]
The Hyper Millennium is similar in form to the Hyper Pro, having the same dimensions and Slimline shape, but with the surface of the body and caps aligned in a continuous curved line (similar to Russell's yo-yos from the 1970's), making the design more aerodynamic.
Also, due to being made of Polycarbonate plastic instead of the softer plastic Duncan used for their US-made yo-yos at the time, as well as the addition of mirror-like weight pogs inside the yo-yo halves, the Hyper Millennium is about 8 grams heavier than the Hyper Pro.
Special Editions[]
- Bandai Hyper Yo-Yo 1 Year Anniversary - A special edition commemorating the first anniversary of Hyper Yo-Yo. It was sold at the Hyper Yo-Yo Festival (2nd Japan Championship) held at the Makuhari Messe Convention Center in Chiba, Japan on April 4, 1998.
Hyper Yo-Yo Promotional Yo-Yos[]
A lighter variant of the Hyper Millennium was used in various promotional variants released in 1998, including one for the anime series Detective Conan (also known overseas as Case Closed). They do not come with the weight pogs of the standard Hyper Millennium, and weigh 6 grams less.
- Bandai Detective Conan
- Bandai France '98 Fifa World Cup
- Bandai Japan Football Association
- Bandai Nagano 1998 Olympics
Character Yo-Yo Series[]
These yo-yos were released by Bandai in 1997, and have the same technical specifications as the Promotional Yo-Yos. However, any Hyper Yo-Yo branding was absent in the packaging, so they seem to not be part of the Hyper Yo-Yo line. Despite this, they appeared in the Hyper Yo-Yo lineup in the official Hyper Yo-Yo website.
- Bandai Hello Kitty
- Bandai My Melody
- Bandai Tenshitchi's Tamagotchi Yo-Yo

Trivia[]
- The Hyper Millennium was the first yo-yo in the Hyper Yo-Yo line that was developed by Bandai instead of being a rebranded product of another yo-yo manufacturer.
- Despite the Duncan logo being featured in the packaging, the Hyper Millennium was not made by Duncan, and was never sold as a Duncan product outside Japan.
