The Magic Shadow (Item No. 671428) was a yo-yo produced by Auldey Toys in 2007 for its Blazing Teens 2 line-up of yo-yos.
Description[]
The yo-yo is a clone of the Henrys Viper, with some modifications. The design of the aluminum hub and rubber shells were copied from the Viper's design, making the yo-yo suitable for 4A (Offstring) play. The ball bearing size is 6x12x4, which is thinner than the Viper's 5x11x5 (Size D). The "Quicktrick" gap adjustment system has been removed; instead, it contains multiple very thin brass spacers on one side of the yo-yo, which can be individually removed to make the gap thinner. A pair of thin rubber pads were included for its response system, which the original Viper didn't have.
Variants[]
The international release of the Magic Shadow (Item No. YW671428) featured rubber shells that were thicker on the rims than the initial Chinese release, in order for it to not become an exact copy of the Viper's rubber shell design.
Appearance in Blazing Teens 2[]
The Magic Shadow was one of two yo-yos belonging to Timothy from the Lightning Yo-Yo Club. It first appeared in Episode 16, where he can be seen using it during a 4A competition against Frankie from the Blazing Yo-Yo Club, who was using his Firewing yo-yo.
Trivia[]
- The rubber shells have the words "FIRE YO-YO" and "AULDEY YO-YO" written on them. This is because they used the same mold for an earlier yo-yo that Auldey Toys made called the New Type Generation. This yo-yo was released in 2000 and 2002 as part of the Fire Yo-Yo line-up of yo-yos, and was a direct copy of the Henrys Viper, including the "Quicktrick" gap adjustment system and lack of any kind of response system.
