The Borealis by CLYW is a return top first released on December 15th, 2015 at 10:00 PM (EST) as a signature series model of 2015 World 1A Champion Zach Gormley.
Description[]
The Borealis is the result of a collaborative effort between Zach Gormley and Chris Mikulin, the owner of CLYW, a return top designed specifically to cater to Gormley's distinctive and acrobatic playing style. It took many weeks of back-and-forth and extensive prototyping until they perfected it, with an H-shaped profile and detailing that is made exactly to Gormley's personal specifications. It also features silicone Snow Tire response pads and the ever-essential Center Trac C-bearing.
It was at the 2015 World Yo-Yo Contest in Tokyo, Japan, that he had used a prototype of the Borealis to win 1st place in the 1A Division, becoming the World 1A Champion for 2015.
The production model of the Borealis, first released in a multitude of solid colors and bold splash anodizations, is made to be exactly the same as with that Worlds-winning prototype, so it's likely to perform just as great.
On February 18th, 2016, a plastic version of the Borealis, the Big Dipper, was released.

- The Borealis is named in reference to the aurora borealis (also known as the Northern Lights), a natural light resulting from electrons colliding with the upper area of the Earth's atmosphere. Added to that, the Northern Lights are a common sight in Canada (where CLYW is based) during Winter.
