The Throw Monkey is a 5A yo-yo by Duncan, first released in 2005 as part of the Hardcore series. It was designed to be used for both counterweight and offstring play, although many players had also used it for string play.
It features a ball bearing axle, take-apart design, Friction Sticker response (2010 version features Silicone Stickers), adjustable gap (not included in the 2010 re-release) and over-molded rubber rims. It also comes included with a bouncy ball-type counterweight called a Monkey Weight.
Most advanced players had used their Throw Monkeys with only one friction sticker, and then when it wears out completely, they can put another sticker into the other side. Others had also silicone-recessed their Throw Monkeys for more advanced play.
