The SS-001 Mini Panzer is the first release by Sturm Panzer as part of their Sturm Panzer SS sub-brand in September 2020.

Teaming up with Sturm Panzer, ex-Team YoYoJam member ZhaoYan Liu A.K.A. "PHENOM yarou" introduces the Sturm Panzer SS (SS = Side-Story) sub-brand, which entails a new line of yo-yos separate from the models featured in the Sturm Panzer storyline, embodying his passion and ingenuity to provide novel ways to play to the greater yo-yo community.
The SS-001 Mini Panzer is the first release in this new side-series, a miniature unresponsive yo-yo made to be smaller than a 1-yen coin, about the size of a U.S. penny.
Because of its size, it requires the use of specialty parts, including an extra-thin string, a tiny custom bearing from NSK, response pads, and axle. It is a very difficult yo-yo to play with, so it includes an instruction manual for the gripping method. The Mini Panzer is quite portable, and comes included with a neck strap so that it could be worn like an accessory. The butterfly-shaped body is machined from brass, a particularly dense metal previously used in weight rings, making for a powerful throw for its size. Spare parts are both included with the yo-yo and sold separately.
A number of these yo-yos sold come included with an ultra-limited "SECRET PROTOTYPE" that is even smaller than the Mini Panzer. The SECRET PROTOTYPE came unassembled with no bearing or response pads, and it is recommended that the spare bearing and pads are added to it to make it functional.
In 2021, the Mini Panzer was given a re-release with new side caps, along with two special edition gold- and silver-plated versions. Also released in 2022 was a responsive economy version, designated the SS-001z.
2022 also marked the release of a 2nd generation model of the Mini Panzer, with a narrower profile inspired by the YoYoJam Mini Mo-Tu, and is a tiny bit wider in diameter than the previous version. It also boasts a new coated bearing, along with a new stable coloring method for the brass body to prevent rusting, which was a problem in the old Mini Panzer.
