Folds are moves, where a loop of string is "folded" around the yo-yo. This results in a twist in the string segments adjacent to the loop. The following combo is used to illustrate the technique.
A basic folds combo[]
Step 1: Start with a trapeze.
Step 2: Pull up the loop with your free hand...
Step 3: ...and "fold" it over your throw hand...
Step 4: ...and around the yo-yo. Then pull your throw hand out of the mess...
Step 5: ...leaving the yo-yo hanging in a loop. Notice, that there is a twist linking the string segment from your throw hand to one of the segments of the free hand loop. Now put your throw hand thumb into the loop...
Step 6: ...pull it wide, and pop the yo-yo up and forward. Keep your free hand index finger and thumb in the loop, you will need the opening later.
Step 7: Pinwheel around the twist in the string...
Step 8: ...coming up in front.
Step 9: Let the yo-yo continue around your free hand index finger, through the opening created in the loop going around the free hand index finger and thumb and land on the string segment between throw hand thumb and free hand index finger. The hold is similar to a Wrist Mount, except that it goes around the throw hand thumb instead of the throw hand wrist.
The hold as seen from the top.
Step 10: Now get some more fingers into the loop holding the yo-yo and pull your index finger out.
Step 11: The resulting hold.
Step 12: Same hold seen from the top. Now drop the loop around your throw hand thumb.
Step 13: You are now back in step 5.
Step 14: Do another fold...
Step 15: ...leaving you with one more twist. Once more insert your throw hand thumb into the loop...
Step 16: ...pull it wide, and pop the yo-yo up and forward, again keeping your free hand index finger and thumb in the loop.
Step 17: Pinwheel around the twist...
Step 18: ... this time coming up in the center, going through the loop that goes around free hand thumb and index finger, continue up and...
Step 19: ...once again pinwheel around the twist in the string...
Step 20: ...this time coming up in front...
Step 21: and landing as in step 9. You can repeat steps 10 through 21 as often as you like (and can). Dismount as from a Wrist Mount, except that - unlike the Wrist Mount - you have to exit away from you. Another way to dismount is to do step 18 twice (this eliminates the twists) and land in a Double or Nothing. |
