Hey guys - Wikia is trying a new experiment with getting new people to edit pages. What we want to do is change the Edit bar at the top of pages so there's a simple tab around "Edit This Page", which will make it stand out a bit. The idea is that this will make it more eye-catching to users who aren't as familiar with the Monaco look as some of you are.

Like I say, this is an experiment. What we want to do is take the data from, say, the past month and compare it against a two-week trial period where we'll have the Edit tab active, and compare to see if there's a change in the number of viewers editing pages. We want to use Yo-Yo, since we need info from a new Toys wiki, and you guys have a lot of traffic through here. You can see an example of how it looks in use on Muppet Wiki.

• It’s not a bad idea to get more edits. I looked at the difference between the buttons when I was logged out and it didn’t seam that much different. I don’t know if it well work, but it doesn’t hurt to try. -- MadYoer ^{(Communicate!)} 22:39, 3 September 2008 (UTC)

• I like it, it should encourage new editors. I've taken a 'before' screenshot (although from another wiki), and an 'after' screenshot for reference. I'll see what info I can get, but you really just have to take a look at your Recent changes log and compare it against some of the other wikis in the Toys hub. Shawn (talk) 17:02, 4 September 2008 (UTC)
