Videos and Beginners Section
Hi. In the last two years, I have had very little time to yo. In the meantime, a lot has changed. I think the most significant change is, that sites like YouTube have completely changed the way people can learn yo-yo tricks and techniques. Since searching the video sites for good material is quite time consuming, I am thinking of adding links of recommended videos to the tricks pages and beginners section. This could grow into a nice directory of the better videos on the net. Any thoughts on this? --HB 15:14, 27 June 2008 (UTC)
Gerard Amento teaches some intermediate slack tricks. Great music too.
Can be embedded into articles. --HB 21:30, 27 June 2008 (UTC)
I like the idea of linking videos, but do we need an infobox? What happens if we want to link many videos? If the infobox is primarily for instruction videos, perhaps it should be URL, trick name, description? Otherwise looks good. Tables are a real pain on mediawiki. It's also great to see the beginners section get some love. --Wilfred 11:06, 28 June 2008 (UTC)
We do not necessarily need an infobox. I like the Idea, because it sticks out in the text. If you have a lengthy discussion of a trick or a technique, it allows a reader to cut directly to the chase. :-) But the nice thing about a template is, that it is basically a collection of parameters. Changing the look then only requires changing the template. And it seems, that we are thinking of the same parameters. I'll make some examples. --HB 13:21, 28 June 2008 (UTC)
I thought it might be neat to have a video embedded like they have on Yo-Yo Nation message board...How hard is that to do?-- MadYoer (Communicate!) 16:31, 28 June 2008 (UTC)
Now, that would be cool... Some websites give you the code for you to embed the movie, like youtube, but I know that that code won't directly work by pasting it here. Would it be some kind of template? Yo shi 21:59, 28 June 2008 (UTC)
