The Forte is a return top produced by MonkeyfingeR Design. It was first released in 2013 as a signature return top of Mike Montgomery.
Description[]
Designed specifically for the smooth, flowy and intricate playing style of Idaho State Yo-Yo Champion Mike Montgomery, the Forte featured a rather narrow profile (at around 36mm in width) with a majority of the weight being pushed out to the rims. Based on the designs of Montgomery's first two signature models, the Beast and the BassBoost, the return top's profile combined the design elements of both of these models. The profile is a narrow V-Shape with wide rims and rounded edges. The inner rim has a stair step design that places weight midway between the center and the rim. The side face has a small flat hub in the center. The overall finish is a two-toned blast, in which the catch zone was beadblasted while the side face has been polished to a “car wax” kind of shine with MonkeyfingeR’s Buff return top polish.
Solid at around 68.5 grams, its weight is concentrated in a small area, which is counteracted by a narrow profile with a large diameter spreading the weight over the side face of the return top. This allows the floaty Forte to be played at a moderate to quick pace and can be easily pushed to the extreme if needed. Its design also allows it to be effective in gyroscopic flops.
Deviating from Center Trac bearings for the first time in this release, MonkeyfingeR has equipped the return top with a standard flat steel C-bearing. Not only that, but it also comes stock with Monkey Snot flowable silicone response. As usual, it comes in a variety of eye-catching multi-colored anodizations complimented by that two-toned blast finish.
