The Gelada (originally named the LUX) is a return top that was first released in 2012 by MonkeyfingeR Design. It is their second return top design.

Description[]

While the earlier Evil Yo had a rather unique take on the modern H-profile, the Gelada had a simpler approach; a Butterfly profile with low edges. This design is meant to combine a powerful spin with ease of use. It also comes in a variety of eye-catching colorways, and the inner walls are blast-finished to reduce friction between the yo-yo and the string and allow for grinding. The walls and floor on the return top's side faces are cuts that scallop towards the center. The first cut is a deep IRG lip and the second is a stabilizing integral weight ring halfway between the rim and the hub. This makes for a return top that allows the player to set and play it at his/her own preferred pace.

The Gelada is also the first return top to come stock with MonkeyfingeR's Monkey Snot flowable silicone, but the silicone grooves could also accept 19mm OD/Large Slim-sized response pads. It also features a Center Trac C-bearing, as well as a carrying pouch. The Gelada also comes included with a stiff string that is effective in slack and laceration-style tricks.
