The Dietz is a yo-yo first released in August 2011 by One Drop as a signature series yo-yo of Daniel Dietz.

Description[]

The Dietz (codenamed "Halifax" during development) is a Side Effect-compatible yo-yo designed for competition use. Featuring an angular H-shaped body profile, the yo-yo is undersized at 50.4mm in diameter, ideal for complicated string tricks. The angular design of the profile also makes the Dietz comfortable to hold in the hand. Speaking of Side Effects, the yo-yo also comes included with a special Dietz Side Effect, which featured an angular, bottlenecked shape.

With Flow Groove response, Pyramatte finish and a 10-ball C-bearing from One Drop, the Dietz is ready for unresponsive, professional-level play straight out of the box.

Lab Experiment #1 is an earlier prototype version of the Dietz during development that was later rejected. A small, serial-numbered run of 21 units were released in December 2011. It was also said that there are approximately a dozen more unnumbered units out there in the world.

The main differences between Lab Experiment #1 and the finalized Dietz, is that it is narrower and weighs a bit more, making for a markedly different feeling. Its catch zone is also shaped somewhat differently.
