YoYo Wiki

The Obsidian is a high-end metal yo-yo produced by Oxygene. It first had an early release in prototype form at the 2014 European Yo-Yo Championship, followed up by a wider retail release in 2015.

Description[]

The Obsidian, whose development was closely supervised by 2001 World Champion Tomonari "Black" Ishiguro, is Oxygene's latest yo-yo, meant for adults to enjoy at their leisure and to appreciate the joy of yo-yo'ing with.

Constructed of aluminum with Oxygene's lightweight and durable titanium core (which was first seen in the Megatron model) at its heart, the Obsidian's low-edged profile is of a moderate size, easy to grip and not too heavy, but still maintains a good weight to it when it spins. In fact, this configuration is designed to bring out the absolute most out of its weight, and throw it around quite well.

In addition to the standard polished black finish, the Obsidian also comes in blasted finishes for an optimal spin and grind-friendly performance. The yo-yo also features a genuine KonKave bearing from Dif-e-Yo, and silicone response pads in the popular 19mm OD Large Slim size.

It is a yo-yo whose performance is truly worth its fairly expensive $200 USD price tag.
