YoYo Wiki

About[]

The Rocky Mountain Skill Toy Association is currently a loose confederation of friends who get together to yoyo and play with other skill toys.

Goals[]

There are current plans to develop the association and support skill toy players in the Utah area through an actively maintained web site as well as social networking websites like Facebook and Twitter.

A few of the goals discussed have been oriented around helping to organize regular yoyo contests on local and state levels in Utah as well as encouraging and assisting individuals and groups in starting their own local gatherings and contests.

Gatherings[]

The only gathering at the moment (Feb 2011) is in South Jordan Utah at the South Jordan Library

The gathering is usually bi-weekly on Saturdays from 2:30-4:30 pm.
Please be sure to call the library to verify if the yoyo club is meeting on the day you want to attend..

History[]

Originally spawned from the Hijinks toy store yoyo club in Salt Lake City Utah after they closed their brick-and-mortar location on October 16, 2004.

A gathering was held regularly at the Anderson-Foothill Library in Salt Lake City and was organized as a parting gift to the community by Mark Levey the owner of Hijinks before he moved away from Utah.

In July of 2005 Seth White and Cole Rominger organized the next location for the gathering at the main branch of the Salt Lake City Library
They envisioned an organization to unite players in the area in a way that encouraged growth of the scene outside the normal boom-bust cycle of yoyo sales. They called this organization the Inter-mountain Skill Toy Association but due to death of Cole's mother in 2006 and waning community interest the gathering ended for a time.

Seth White and Shawn Shipley then started a gathering called Yo Utah! to keep the remaining players together. In September of 2006 a new gathering at the South Jordan Library was started. It was decided at this time to create the Rocky Mountain Skill Toy Association and websites were created by Greg Hawkins.

Thom Edlund and his family are responsible for continuing the gathering at the South Jordan Library.
