The Science of Spin is a FREE school program. A demonstrator will come to the school, and put on a 30 minute show for the entire school on yo-yo fun and safety. That is followed up by a 30 minute show with students in 4th grade and up, based on science. Gyroscopic stability, planes of spin, rotational inertia, and distribution of mass are just some of the topics covered in the educational half hour.
The balance of the day, the demonstrator then becomes a physical education teacher, working with students on how to yo-yo. This fits in very well with the p.e. curriculum because yo-yos are all about hand-eye coordination, timing, balance, throwing and catching skills etc.
