The Kenshin is a yo-yo produced by Sengoku. Its pre-sales started on March 21st, 2016. On March 29th, 2016, it was given worldwide retail release, especially on the Sengoku online store.

Description[]

Another innovative design from the minds of Julio Robles and his crew at Sengoku, the Kenshin features a body that is machined out of 7068 aluminum, which is the strongest aluminum alloy commercially available. It also comes stock with a Center Trac C-bearing and the new Katana Pad silicone response system from Sengoku. Special colorways for the yo-yo use a Terrapin X Delta bearing. With its MSRP of $98 USD, it costs less than anything else in Sengoku's line-up, and this would make it a good gateway model for players who are unfamiliar with the brand.

Trivia[]

  • This yo-yo is named in reference to Uesugi Kenshin (上杉謙信), who was one of the most powerful warlords during the Sengoku period. He is known for his prowess on the battlefield, as well as an extremely skillful administrator who fostered the growth of local industries and trade; his rule saw a marked rise in the standard of living of Echigo. Kenshin is famed for his honourable conduct, his military expertise, a long-standing rivalry with Takeda Shingen, his numerous campaigns to restore order in the Kanto region as the Kanto Kanrei, and his belief in the Buddhist God of War, Bishamonten. In fact, many of his followers and others believed him to be the very avatar of Bishamonten himself, and even referred to him as the God of War.
  • 7068 aluminum alloy is primarily developed for ordnance applications, and it is now being used or considered for markets like the aerospace and automotive industries (valve body and connecting rod applications), medical devices such as prosthetic limbs, as well as recreational products like bicycles and mountain climbing equipment.
