The Masamune is a yo-yo from Sengoku. It was first released on November 13th, 2015.
Description[]
The Masamune is a bi-metal yo-yo, machined out of Alumigo Hard, a new type of aluminum alloy that is not only harder and stronger than even steel S50C, but is also a much less expensive material. On the inner lips of the rims are a pair of stainless steel weight rings, which make up more than 50% of the yo-yo's physical weight. These were fitted inset onto the yo-yo by means of a nitrogen-based shrinking process. Even though it weighs less than 70 grams, the Masamune spins like a 70-gram throw, allowing it to play fast and amazingly well. With a string gap of 4.4mm, it's great for not just 1A, but also for 3A and 5A. In short, versatility. The yo-yo also features a YoYoRecreation Double Straight C-bearing and IrPad set-up, like in the earlier Nobunaga.
The first run of the Masamune is raw, due to the level of difficulty in anodizing the yo-yo. It is also limited to only ten yo-yos. Speaking of anodization, four anodized prototypes of the Masamune were also showcased on Facebook on August 5th, 2015.
The second run of the Masamune is anodized in Red Wine, colored in reference to the Battle of Domyoji (June 3rd, 1615), and was released on November 26th, 2015. It is limited to 25 units.
The third run of the Masamune is anodized in black, and was released in late January/early February 2016. It is limited to only 25 units.

Trivia[]
- The Masamune is named after Date Masamune (伊達政宗), a samurai warlord in the Sengoku period who had once served under Hideyoshi and later Tokugawa Ieyasu, participating in many battles. Masamune was an heir in a long line of daimyos in the Tohoku region, who eventually founded the modern day Japanese city of Sendai. An outstanding tactician, Masamune was also famed for his missing eye, and was often called the "Dokuganryū" (独眼竜), meaning "one-eyed dragon".
