Sukeban Deka is a TV series based on a Japanese comic (manga) by the same name that aired in Japan during the 80s in which the heroine fought with a yo-yo. A movie based on the series was released in 2006. Takahiko Hasegawa worked on the production of the movie as a yo-yo coordinator.

In the anime, the main character (named Saki) was given a hard cermaic yo-yo by her mentor Jin to fight with. At one point, She referred to it as a "cherry blossom emblem".

The DVD release of Sukeban Deka (movie) was bundled with a Duncan Freehand Zero-based yo-yo.
