This is the most basic mount in frontstyle and probably the first a new player ever learns. It is the basis of tricks such as Braintwister and Skin the Cat.
A great way to practice the Over Mount and Under Mount is the trick Over and Under.
Instructions[]
Step 1: Throw a Sleeper. Let the yo-yo swing towards you...
Step 2: ...against your free hand index finger...
Step 3: ...swinging around it...
Step 4: ...and up into...
Step 5: ...the string. Now give a lttle slack with your throw hand, allowing the yo-yo to pull the string with it and...
Step 6: ...hang in the resulting loop.
Step 7: Cushion the swing...
Step 8: ...and you are in the Under Mount.
Step 9: To dismount, swing the yo-yo away from you, while pulling up the string with your throw hand...
Step 10: ...catapulting the yo-yo out of the string loop...
Step 11: ...and, rounding your index finger, to the front. Possible continuations are to have the yo-yo return like from a normal Sleeper, do a Ferris Wheel Dismount (see below), or continue into an Over Mount.

Ferris Wheel Dismount[]
Step 1: If you have a responsive yo-yo, this is a very flashy way to dismount. Coming out of the Under Mount...
Step 2: ...pull the string upwards...
Step 3: ...to catapult the yo-yo out of the string. The yo-yo has to gather a lot of momentum to...
Step 4: ...continue downwards...
Step 5: ...away from you,...
Step 6: ...and upwards. Unlike a Forward Pass, the yo-yo is rotating clockwise.
Step 7: Bring it back by tugging on the string...
Step 8: ...and sling it...
Step 9: ...over... | |
Step 10: ...and around your wrist.
Step 11: Unlike Loop the Loop, the yo-yo does not flip around here, but starts spinning counter-clockwise.
Step 12: From here on the dismount works like a Forward Pass,...
Step 13: ...with the yo-yo going forward,...
Step 14: ...up,... | |
Step 15: ...and returning...
Step 16: ...to be caught from below. Alternatively, you can add a few Loop the Loops before catching the yo-yo.
