About me
Hi, I'm Wilfred, a yo-yoer from the UK. Rather than going it alone with a website written by me I realised that it's more fun to be part of a community created site. I've not been here from the beginning but I've been around for a while so can probably answer any questions you have. I'm also here to add my personal knowledge to the wiki. I'm also a stickler for spelling & grammar so many of my changes are just spelling corrections :-P

Admin-stuff
I'm an admin/mod/sysop type person here, so if you're interested in the general policies:
Banning
We have only banned people who only come on here to post spam links to casinos or whatever. We haven't banned a single yo-yoer, so we're pretty laid back. We could if we have to, but that hasn't happened yet. If you think something merits a ban, leave a message on my talk page.
Page protection
Again, we're pretty laid back about this, so very few pages are protected. We try to keep protected pages to a minimum since we get very little spam and so we want to let everyone edit everything :-).
If you look really hard, you will find a few pages are protected from editing. This includes the pages in the Mediawiki name space. These are not content pages, they are internal and are part of the workings of the site. These are protected by default because a seemingly ok change could have unexpected consequences (frankly, I don't know what most of them do).
If you think we should edit or unprotect a protected page, use the discussion page with it.
We have also protected some of the pages involved with our competitions to prevent judging decisions being changed or people entering competitions that have long finished. Again, if you think we should unprotect it just use the discussion page.
Page deletion
Pages are only deleted when they're blank (or extremely short) and unused for long periods of time. If you want to flag an article for deletion add {{DeleteProposal}} to the page.
Projects
Occasionally I'll aim to do something biggish specifically. Of course, don't let that stop you editing the pages I'm focusing on, the more the merrier.

We have too many stubs, I'm going to expand a few. Please don't let that stop anyone else expanding them though.

My sandbox
I've set myself up a sandbox to experiment with wiki markup language. Sandbox I Sandbox II. Don't forget there's a communal sandbox
Spelling corrections
Every so often I will run searches to make sure yo-yo, yo-yoing and yo-yoer are hyphenated, and offstring is not hyphenated. 'Yoyo' check, 'Yoyoer' check, 'Yoyoing' check, 'Off-string' check, page corruption check.
Offline editing
I used to be more paranoid about the data here and had a very simple backup set up. I used the list of pages I've put together here. This is no longer an issue.

Hi Wilfred - yeah, I can set up a Watercooler forum. But I thought that you guys had one and just changed the name to Coffee Machine? Shawn (talk) 16:50, 20 August 2008 (UTC)
