The Firedog by YoYoFactory is an entry-level looping yo-yo released in 2009. It has a plastic transaxle sleeve and a F.A.S.T. response system. The Firedog is a one-piece yo-yo and cannot be unscrewed apart, so thankfully, there are no small pieces to lose. Along with that, the F.A.S.T. also allows for learning more advanced tricks. The string tends to snag up in the yo-yo at times, which can be a problem.

The Hyper Comet (Japanese: ハイパーコメット) is Bandai's adaptation of the Firedog, as well as being the first yo-yo released in the 2010s incarnation of the Hyper Yo-Yo range. Before its official release, the yo-yo made its debut as the Hyper Comet Type-0, and this pre-release edition was distributed exclusively at the 2010 World Hobby Fair. During the 2010 FIFA World Cup, Bandai released an officially-licensed (by the Japan Football Association) version of the Hyper Comet, which promotes the Japan National Soccer Team.
