The Black Nova by YoYoJam was the first signature yo-yo for Tomonari "Black" Ishiguro. Like certain other yo-yos in YoYoJam's line-up at the time of its release, it has a composite-material body of plastic with metal rings on the rims for weight. The Black Nova's bronze weight rings make it a heavy throw for its time at around 73 grams. It also features a ball bearing axle for longer spinning and a traditional starburst response system.
The Black Nova proved to be quite popular among many Japanese players at the time of its release, and had sold well. It was eventually discontinued after a year.
