The Sputnik has a lightweight 7075 aluminum body with stainless steel rings positioned on the inner lips, rather than on the outer rims, similar to the Laser. Its shape and dimensions are very much similar to the Blink. It also features silicone IrPad response and an angular Double Straight C-bearing for extreme performance.
On April 4th, 2015, YoYoRecreation released a limited edition 66-gram version of the Sputnik to commemorate Yo-Yo Day in Japan.
- The Sputnik yo-yo is named after the very first artificial Earth Satellite, the Sputnik 1, which was launched into orbit by the former Soviet Union on October 4th, 1957.
